Early in 2014 we opened a playgroup for Grandparents Caring for Grandchildren. This is a unique program just for grandparents who care for their grandchildren on a full time or casual basis. The play area is set up with activities promoting the children’s interests. We work in partnership with the grandparents to give them the opportunity to be involved in their grandchildren’s interests whilst chatting with each other and sharing ideas and experiences in a safe and friendly environment. When requested parenting support is provided by Meerilinga Parenting Services.

“When I go to the Grandparent Playgroup, my grandchild and I receive a warm welcome by Jenny. Jenny has observed my grandchild during his time at Playgroup, and has taken note of what he chooses to play with at his stage of development. Jenny then ensures that my grandchild’s preferences are provided when we next visit the Thursday Playgroup. Jenny brings out the CD player for us to listen to whilst we are playing outdoors and interacts/sings/plays with us. I am touched by Jenny’s kindness and thoughtfulness.
