Early years education on road safety, is very important, that is why Meerilinga runs the ‘Smart Steps Program from SDERA‘ at all our centres.
Evidence shows that the most effective time to get involved in good road safety practices is in the Early Childhood Years, So with trained staff on road safety and with fun learning environments, Meerilinga educate children and their families, at our centres on road safety.
We have a lots of fun learning at Meerilinga, and road safety is no different. A ‘big friendly green lizard’ called “Izzy” comes to visit us, he is the Smart Steps mascot.
Children love it when Izzy visits, and Izzy loves to make new friends, giving out stickers and sharing his knowledge about road safety. Izzy’s enjoys travelling to each Meerilinga centre getting cuddles and high fives with all the children that have now become his new friend.
Smart Steps is an Educational Program designed for children from birth to 4 year olds and for their parents, Carers and the local community.
