Fairy Queen Caroline, Children’s Week Ambassador, opened the WA Children’s Week Awards at Perth Zoo today, by singing the additional verses of the Children’s Week Song, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Australia signing the United Nations Charter of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Children’s Week Patron, Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AO, Governor of Western Australia, joined the celebrations with the Hon Tony Simpson MLA, Minister for Local Government; Community Services; Seniors and Volunteering; Youth, The Hon. Peter Collier MLC, Minister for Education; Aboriginal Affairs; Electoral Affairs, Ms Jenni Perkins, Acting Commissioner for Children and Young People and Mrs Lesley Moreschi, Meerilinga Chief Executive Officer.
Award recipients from across the state were recognised for their outstanding contribution to improving opportunities for Western Australian children, families or the community.
