In recent years children have become less physically active for a variety of reasons, both at home and at school. This is leading to more complex issues within society and our healthcare systems. Physical literacy is a core element to building a healthy and active society. It provides kids with the confidence, motivation, skills and knowledge for continued lifelong active participation. This workshop is designed for educators to learn information and strategies that they can implement in their educational setting to combat this alarming decline.
The workshop will cover:
– What is physical literacy? – the four domains of physical literacy
– The importance of Physical Literacy?
– Teaching and assessing Fundamental Movement Skills in Early Childhood
– Educators role in promoting children’s motivation and confidence in physical activity
